PS Tamang launches Bal Aadhar Card

Gangtok: Chief Minister PS Tamang graced the state’s Children’s Day celebration on Monday.

He was joined by Education Minister KN Lepcha and other dignitaries.

Bal Aadhar, the ‘Aadhar for my Child’ campaign, was launched by the Chief Minister.

The event was organized by the State nodal department for Unique Identification Numbers Authority, DESME (Directorate of Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation).

Addressing the gathering, the CM talked about planting saplings at the time of birth. Forest authorities are expected to plant a sapling when a child is born. This would propagate One Sapling per Child.

He also launched the National Integrated Literacy Programme.

On Children’s Day, the CM paid homage to the First Prime Minister of the nation,Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, on his birthday (his birth anniversary).

Pandit Nehru was a strong advocate for children’s rights and a firm believer in inclusive education,’ said CM.

‘Let us pledge to give wings to the dreams of our children and inspire them to achieve their aspirations and goals,’ said CM Tamang, here on Monday.
