Five die of suffocation while cleaning underground tank in Meghalaya

Shillong: At lest five persons, including a senior forest officer, who went inside a 35 feet underground water tank of an under construction building, died due to suffocation while two others were rescued in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district on Monday, said police sources.
Police said that the five persons died due to the poisonous smoke that was being emitted from the water pump.
The deceased include Hamklet Suchiang, who was the owner of the under construction building and a Divisional Forest Officer(DFO).
