Kolkata: Legendary Cafu, Brazil’s most capped player, and two times World Cup champion, and the last holder of the FIFA World Cup trophy as a captain will be making the journey to West Bengal from November 4 to 7 to Participate in a charity football match for Kolkata police supported by the sponsor Bengal Peerless Housing Development & Company.
During his visit, he will also be a part of a chat show and will hand over a jersey to the chief minister of West Bengal and a football boot to the cricketing legend Sourav Ganguly.
“It is such an honor for me to be able to make this trip. Kolkata is a very special place and I have heard that the people of Bengal have a huge Brazilian fan following “India is a very passionate football nation, and I look forward to meeting a whole new generation of fans while continuing to spread the overwhelming love that I have for this beautiful game,” said Brazil’s FIFA World Cup-winning captain Cafu.
On the Kolkata Police Friendship Cup, Ketan Sengupta, CEO of Bengal Peerless Housing Development Company said, ” We are extremely delighted to host one of our pride in our own city. Bengal Peerless is hosting several events to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the great man’s legacy who fought for India’s freedom. This Friendship Cup is also one of them and we are elated to have Cafu for the match.”
Satadru Dutta, the promoter of Cafu’s trip was thrilled to have the Champion Captain.
According to him, during his 4-day stay in India (November 4-7 ), Cafu will travel to Kolkata on behalf of the presenting Sponsor Bengal Peerless, and will inaugurate the Kolkata Police.
Friendship Cup and play a charity match between Bengal Peerless All Stars Eleven & Kolkata Police All-Stars Eleven features several sports personalities & celebrates. Captain Cafu will also be having a football workshop with budding young talents. Captain Cafu is very excited to visit west Bengal.
