Imphal: A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, eight years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan was organized by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal at Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal District, Manipur.
Principal of the college, Prof. H. Manoranjan Sharma, presided over the event.
At the outset, Head of Office, CBC, Regional Office, Imphal Dr. Aribam Ibomcha Sharma, outlined the objectives of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), eight Years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan.
Speaking as resource persons, Head of Department, Department of Political Science Prof. N. Jotinkumar Singh and Head of Department, Deptt. of History, Waikhom Mani Girls’ college, Thoubal Md. Ahmed Ali Shah explained elaborately the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Manipur’s context.
The contributions of the unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle from Manipur namely, Kokami Naga, Chirai Naga were discussed amongst others. The historian also opined that the victims of the Jalian Wala Bagh Massacre were also unsung heroes. Prof. H. Manoranjan Sharma, in his presidential speech, mentioned the achievements of the eight years of Seva and Sushasan of the Central government.
Later, an Azadi Quest quiz contest was organized and prizes distributed to the winners. Private Registered Troupes(PRT) of this office namely M/S Nata Sankirtan Pala, Singjamei presented a Thang-ta show and other cultural activities, stated a press note from the programme-in-charge, CBC, regional office, Thokchom Anthony.
