Five members of a family receive critical burn wounds after the explosion

Kolkata: Five members of a family, three of them minors, were on Wednesday wounded critically in an explosion at their Rabindra Nagar home under Maheshtala police in South 24 Parganas district, police said.

All the wounded, who received burns of various degrees including the couple, have been admitted to the SSKM Hospital. The injured minors were 11, 7 and 6 years old.

Police said the explosion may have happened when the fuel-powered stove burst while the wife of Sandip Yadav was preparing morning tea.

The forensic department was called to ascertain the cause of the blast.
