Arunachal: 3 more arrested in paper leak case

Itanagar: Three more people, including a father-daughter duo, have been arrested in connection with the recent question paper leak case involving the apex recruiting agency Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), a senior police officer said.

With this, the total number of arrests made in the infamous Assistant Engineer (Civil) recruitment examination (Main) conducted by the APPSC rose to nine, SIC ( Vigilance) SP Anand Mittal said.

Earlier, the Itanagar Police had arrested six persons, including a top APPSC officer, after the alleged paper leak fiasco rattled Itanagar as series of protests were staged by the aggrieved job aspirants and others.

The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance), which took over the case on September 27 last, arrested two government officials – Binam Jomang (31) and Talung Jomang (52) of Tarak village under Boleng circle of Siang district, and a private individual, Loth Ezing (26) of Remi village under Ruksin sub-division in East Siang district, Mittal said.

“Binam Jomang is a contractual JE (junior engineer) of the Panchayati Raj Department posted at Lekang in Namsai district, while Talung Jomang is her father who is a senior AFA (Agriculture Field Assistant) under the ADO Pangin in Siang district. Loth Ezing is a candidate of the AE (Civil) examination in question,” informed the SIC (Vig) SP.

“The SIC investigation into the paper leak matter is ongoing and all facets of the case are being investigated in detail. All legal formalities and norms of professionalism are being maintained during the investigation. SIC is committed to ensuring justice to the aggrieved and requests anyone with concrete evidence or details of the case to come forward and report the same,” a statement from the SIC SP said.
