HPCL eyes 5,000 EV charging stations by 2024-25: CMD Joshi

Hyderabad: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), one of the biggest Charge Point Operators in the country, has planned to have 5,000 EV charging Stations by 2024-25.

HPCL has more than 1,000 chargers in its retail outlets across the country.
Speaking after inaugurating an EV charging station and launching poWer100, the ultra-premium branded petrol at Company Owned Retail Outlet Millennium Pearl here on Saturday, HPCL Chairman and Managing Director, Pushp Kumar Joshi said EVs are more efficient than ICE Engine vehicles and have zero tailpipe emission. We are working to advance the accessibility of charging through investing and partnering.

The EV charging station has been put up in partnership with Charge Dock Pvt. Ltd., a Bengaluru-based start-up.

It will cater to 4-wheelers and has two guns – the first of a 30KW capacity CCS 2 charger and the second of a 7.4 KW Type 2 AC charger, he said the facility will be available to the EV owners free of cost at the moment.

About poWer100, Joshi said, “This premium petrol is an ideal fuel choice for high performance, high-end cars, and bikes and I am sure it will be a big hit with our esteemed customers at Hyderabad.” and Ch. General Manager, South Central Zone, Sh. S. Hari Prasad was also present on the occasion.

HPCL’s Executive Director ( Retail) Sandeep Maheshwari said: “EV revolution is going to be a reality. We are focusing on 9 priority cities with more than 4 million population and connecting highways and Hyderabad is one of them.

As regards poWer100, it is being launched in Hyderabad as per demand from the customers. The multi-functional additives in these superior quality fuels help in cleaning the engine, reducing wear and tear and thereby increasing engine life, Sandeep added.
