Three African nationals were arrested in Meghalaya

Sangma said a case has been registered against them under the Foreigners Act and an investigation is on.

Shillong: Three African nationals were arrested by Meghalaya police for not possessing valid travel documents on Saturday, police said on Sunday.
A police team intercepted a tourist vehicle bearing registration number ML 05 T 3049 in NH 6 along Ummulong and detected six African nationals.

The six footballers were proceeding toward the East Jaintia Hills district for participating in a football tournament in Mosiang Lamare Village, Bikram D Sangma, the district police chief said.

Three of the six African nationals identified as Enock Kwabena (29) from Ghana, Olaleye Joseph Mayowa (26) from Nigeria and Moses Zutah (24) from Ghana possessed valid travel documents and were released, Sangma said.

The other three – Guilavogui Victor (25) of Guinea, Kehinde Edris Olayimka (26) from Libera and Vidal Luis Chissano (25) from Mozambique – failed to produce valid travel documents, the police official said.

Sangma said a case has been registered against them under the Foreigners Act and an investigation is on.
