Kohima police seize narcotics worth Rs 20 lakh

Kohima: The Crime Branch of Kohima police has recovered one lakh Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 20 Lakh from a Guwahati-bound vehicle bearing Assam registration number, officials said on Saturday. 

According to a release issued by the police, based on specific input, personnel of the Narcotic Cell Mobile Unit intercepted the vehicle which had come from Imphal.

After a thorough search, the suspected Yaba Tablets (WY), wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each, were recovered..

The tablets were concealed inside a specially built compartment near the spare tyre. The approximate value of the recovered contraband is around Rs. 20 Lakh. 

The suspected contraband items were duly seized and two occupants of the vehicle, both residents from Tengnoupal district of Manipur were arrested. 

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered.
