‘Eat Right Mela’ to be held on June 27 at Thoubal

Deputy Commissioner said the Eat Right Mela is being held to give awareness to the public about eating the right food and healthy diets through an interactive and informative model.

Thoubal: Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh, appealed to the people of the district to take part in the ‘EAT RIGHT MELA’ which will be held on June 27 of this month at Thoubal Mela Ground. 

Deputy Commissioner said the Eat Right Mela is being held to give awareness to the public about eating the right food and healthy diets through an interactive and informative model. He appealed to the general public of the District to take part in the  Walkathon and other entertainment programs which will be featured as part of the mela. The mela is being organised by Food Safety and Administration Thoubal under the aegis of the District Administration.

It is worth mentioning that Eat Right Mela is an infotainment model of food festival to engage, and excite, enable citizens to make the right food choices. The mela provides an opportunity to learn about safe food and healthy diets, including quick tests for adulterants, health and nutrition benefits of food, dietary advice by experts, information on Government programmes and initiatives, and much more. Pavilions displaying interesting exhibits and stalls showcasing local food, temple foods and organic foods will also feature in the mela.

The Eat Right Mela is conducted annually by FSSAI headquarters in New Delhi. In addition to this, States also identify local organizations working with street food vendors, local authorities and related government departments organize these melas. Further, states work with these organizations and local authorities to get street food vendors trained under FSSAI’s. The Eat Right India Movement is aimed to usher in a new food culture by nudging both the food businesses and consumers to eat safe, healthy and sustainably, which are the pillars of the movement.
