Imphal: The School authorities of Higher Secondary Schools, (Running Science Stream) in Senapati District and affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) Monday slammed the Council for victimising the students of schools and examination centres where the exam results of Class XII were declared recently.

In an open letter addressed to COHSEM, the school authorities pointed out the ‘flaws and loopholes’ of the Council while declaring the exam result of Class XII and said that process of evaluation and negligence on the part of the council led to the poor result on Science stream, especially in Senapati district.

The letter further alleged that there have been cases of Question Papers being leaked openly and have been widely circulated in Social media and WhatsApp platforms and no action has been initiated by COHSEM to address the issue.

“There has been favouritism shown by COHSEM to some particular schools, where they were given Home Centre. Whereas, it was never allowed for other schools to have their own Home Centre for the conduct of the examination”, the letter added.

Stating that the evaluation of examination papers was done at a record pace leading to poor evaluation, the letter added that examiners who are not taking the subject and not appointed by COHSEM were even allowed to evaluate the papers which are against the policy of fair evaluation.

The Mode of Re-Evaluation has to be changed. Re-Evaluation should not be just Re-Tabulation of Marks but Re-Evaluation of the answers written by the students on the answer sheet and should be transparent.

“The Change of syllabus in Home Science was made aware as the only change in nomenclature from “Home Science” to “Human Ecology and Family Science” and not the Syllabus and change in the syllabus was brought to our notice just two weeks before the start of the examination”.

“The 2022 COHSEM result has clearly exposed the system of COHSEM, Examination Centres where the examination was conducted fairly came out with poor results and Examination Centres where students were involved and practicing unfair means came out with good results. We fear that if this trend is allowed to continue, the quality of education in the state will deteriorate further”.

The Private Schools of the District appealed to COHSEM and its authority to kindly address the issues and loopholes so as to promote fair and quality education in the near future, the letter concluded.
