33 killed in Bihar lightning; CM Nitish announces compensation

Kumar expressed his deep shock over the deaths of 33 people in lightning in 16 districts of Bihar. He announced compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each to next of kin of those killed in lightning.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday announced compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each for family members of those who lost their lives in incidents of lightning in the state during the past 24 hours. 

Kumar expressed his deep shock over the deaths of 33 people in lightning in 16 districts of Bihar. He announced compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each to next of kin of those killed in lightning.

The Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to make payment of compensation to the affected families as soon as possible. He also directed for assessment of damaged houses and crops so that assistance could be given to affected families and farmers without any loss of time.

As it is, maximum number of seven people were killed in lightning in Bhagalpur, six in Muzaffarpur, three each in Saran and Lakhisarai, two each in Munger and Samastipur,

one each in Jehanabad, Khagaria, Nalanda, Purnea, Banka, Begusarai, Araria, Jamui, Katihar and Darbhanga district of Bihar.
