Itanagar: The Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) of Namsai District Police in Arunachal Pradesh has arrested a lady drug peddler from Mukron village under Piyong circle of the district on Thursday and recovered suspected heroin from her possession.
Namsai SP Dr D W Thongon said, upon receipt of information that one Onthu Manchey, wife of Chow Arun Manchey of Mukron village is dealing in contraband substance such as heroin, the ADS led by DySP(P) Kengo Dirchi alongwith Namsai Police Station OC Inspector Tasi Yangi and Inspector Tabin Padung raided the house of Manchey in presence of Executive Magistrate Hage Nari and independent witnesses.
During the search, the team recovered a small-sized container containing white and orange coloured powdery substance, suspected to be contraband weighing approx five grams (excluding the weight of container) and a cash of Rs 33,430, suspected to be sale proceeds of contraband substance, he said.
The accused was then formally arrested and the recovered items seized in presence of independent witnesses. Subsequently, a case under Section 21(a) of NDPS Act has been registered and endorsed to Sub-Inspector T Poglaham for investigation, the SP said.
