Kohima: The central government’s Interlocutor for the Indo-Naga peace talks A K Mishra has met the NSCN (I-M) Core Group Committee led by its chief negotiator Thuingaleng Muivah in an attempt to break the impasse in negotiations to find out a solution to the vexed Naga political issue.
The meeting took place at the Nagaland Police Complex in Chumukedima district on Friday, various sources said. Muivah, who is currently camping at the Police Complex, was accompanied by around ten senior NSCN (I-M) leaders.
The closed-door meeting was held for around two hours. Another meeting with a larger group of around 30 to 40 NSCN (I-M) leaders will be held on Saturday.
After the meeting, Mishra will return to Delhi on Monday.
Saturday’s parleys happened a day after the Government of India’s Interlocutor met the Working Committee (WC) of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs). It was the second meeting in a week, as Mishra and NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah had an informal talk at the NSCN’s camp in Hebron on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the interlocutor met the church leaders and civil society organisations. Earlier, Mishra called on Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, sources said.
