Former Meghalaya DGP Anil Pradhan passes away

An alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi, Pradhan was an IPS officer of the 1977 batch of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

Shillong: Former Director-General of Police of Meghalaya, Anil Pradhan passed away at Escorts-Fortis Heart Hospital in Okhla, New Delhi, on Sunday morning, family sources said.

Pradhan, who was battling heart and lung problems, was admitted to the hospital on February 2 and tested positive for Covid19. His last rites will be performed in Delhi.

He is survived by his wife, a son, daughter and grandchildren, family sources said.

An alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi, Pradhan was an IPS officer of the 1977 batch of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

He served as Superintendent of Police of Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district.

He then went on deputation with the Intelligence Bureau in Delhi and then returned to Meghalaya and served as an Inspector General (IG) in the Special Branch, Fire and Emergency Service. He was promoted as DGP of Meghalaya from May 18, 2009 till August 4, 2009.
