Kohima: Union Minister for Ayush, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has arrived in Nagaland on a two-day visit here last night.
According to official sources Sonowal was received by Nagaland Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining Kashiho Sangtam, Adviser Tovihoto, Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima and other officials at Dimapur airport.
Sonowal also met Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at his private residence in Sovima before leaving for Kohima. Sonowal will return to Dimapur today(on Friday) and will leave for Dibrugarh, sources said.
P. Paiwang Konyak, Nagaland’s Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways and Land Resources, met with Union Minister Sonowal in Kohima and briefed him on the Tizu-Zungki inland waterway project, which has been declared National Waterway-101.
Paiwang said that the DPR for the waterways project, prepared by M/s WAPCOS, was handed over to Sonowal during his meeting at a hotel in Kohima. He exuded confidence that the Ministry would sanction funds to take up the first phase of the project.
Senior State officials, Chief Engineer of Inland Waterways Authority of India S.V. K Reddy was also present at the meeting.
The Union Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Integrated Ayush Hospital at Razha Chedema under Kohima district and will virtually lay the foundation stone of the Integrated Ayush Hospital at Tuli, Medziphema, and Kiphire on Friday.
