Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel injured in Manipur blast

Police said ITBP personnel were patrolling in the area when the blast occurred. Both the injured personnel Gaurav Rai and Girija Shankar were rushed to the hospital for treatment and were out of danger.

Imphal: Two personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were injured in an IED blast at Wangoo Tera, Kakching district on Sunday night.

Police said ITBP personnel were patrolling in the area when the blast occurred. Both the injured personnel Gaurav Rai and Girija Shankar were rushed to the hospital for treatment and were out of danger.

Senior police personnel rushed in and cordoned off the area. Security has also been beefed up in Manipur as Rahul Gandhi will be addressing a public rally at Hapta Kangjeibung on Monday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a public rally at Luwangpokpa ground on Tuesday.

Manipur will go to the polls on Feb 28 and Mar 5 next.
