Minsk: The general staffs of the Russian and Belarusian armed forces will come up with joint measures to prevent war in the region, Belarusian Defense Minister Victor Khrenin said on Sunday.
“Testing of the response forces of the Union State will continue. The general staffs of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia will develop joint further steps, and we will implement these decisions,” Khrenin said in a speech published on the ministry’s Telegram-channel.
Khrenin added that the steps are first of all aimed at preventing war. The drills were held at Belarus’ testing grounds from February 10-20 with the aim of training soldiers to repel external aggression and terrorist attacks.
Starting Friday, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics (DPR and LPR) have been reporting that the Ukrainian security forces are shelling residential areas in Donbas in violation of the Minsk agreements.
Earlier in the day, the LPR reported that two civilians were killed in an attack.Â
