Militant hideout busted in Manipur’s Leimaram village

Imphal: Keithelmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police busted a militant hideout at Leimaram Makha Leikai village of Bishnupur on Wednesday, an official said.

On Tuesday, two militants were also nabbed in another joint operation. An Assam Rifles official said a combined force of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation which led to the recovery of a large number of arms and ammunition comprising three 9 mm pistols, two hand grenades, one radio set, six detonators, half kg explosive, M-79 grenade launcher rounds and one safety fuses.

The seized weapons and ammunition were handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation.

In another incident, Keithelmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended two insurgents of proscribed group KYKL at Khongjom Papal, Thoubal district .
