Kohima: Severe cold gripped many high reached areas of Nagaland after the state was hit by showers of hailstorms Saturday afternoon, including the Kohima district and the capital town of Kohima.
Official sources said the high altitude mountain caps of Mountain Japfu under Kohima district and Mount Saramati under Phek district are wearing snow caps since mid-January last.
The Minimum temperature in Kohima was recorded at five Degree Celsius and maximum is recorded at 12 degree Celsius. The highest altitude town of the state Pfutsero town and all the villages under the sub-division is fully covered by snow round the clock since last week of last month.
However, Kohima is experiencing a cloudy weather since today morning and Sun playing hide and seek game.
Meanwhile, the IMD bulletin has informed that light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from February 6 to 9 next.Â
