Six more Covid-19 related deaths, 361 new cases in Meghalaya

Shillong: Meghalaya on Friday recorded six more Covid-19 related deaths which increased the number the fatality to 1,515, even as 361 more persons, including 20 health workers have tested positive for the viral infection surged the number of active cases to 2,422. health officials said.

The State also reported 348 more cases of recoveries which mounted the number of recovered cases to 86,265 in the State which has registered 90,202 confirmed cases so far.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said five Covid-19 related deaths in East Khasi Hills district and one West Garo Hills district.

East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong, the most pandemic hit district recorded 182 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, with the district now having 1,381 active cases and 1,032 deaths. West Garo Hills district recorded 88 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday with the number of active cases in the district now at 471 followed by 19 new cases in Ri-Bhoi district, which has 178 active cases, 15 new cases in West Jaintia Hills district and 13 South West Garo Hills district, the medical official said.

Moreover, he informed that nine new cases were detected in Eastern West Khasi Hills district, seven new cases each were also detected in East Jaintia Hills district and North Garo Hills district, six cases each in East Garo Hills district and South Garo Hills district, five in West Khasi Hills district and four in South West Khasi Hills district.

On the other hand, 32,107 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29306 have been administered with the second dose and 5,241 have taken the third precaution dose, while 96,987 front-line workers have got the first jab, 85,057 have taken the second shot and 1,0451 have got the precaution dose, even as 11,98,530 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 8,13,809 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 1,280 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state as on date, according to the National Health Mission record.
