Union Minister Rameswar Teli distributes e-SHRAM registration cards

Talking about the Ethanol project, Minister Teli said that we are working on this project in all districts of the country but it cannot be implemented in Manipur due to some reason.

Imphal: Union Minister of State Labour & EmploymentRameswar Teli expressed that Manipur will touch new heights of achievements with registration and better implementation of the eSHRAM portal. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government has developed an eSHRAM portal for creating a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW) for the first time since independence. He was speaking at the distribution ceremony of e-SHRAM cards held on Friday at the Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal.

E-SHRAM registration cards were distributed to 30 unorganized workers while Pension Payment Order (PPO) was distributed under the “Prayaas” initiative of EPFO. Minister Rameswar Teli also distributed cheques and certificates to the ESI beneficiaries present at the function.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Rameswar Teli said that about 7 crores 30 lakhs workers and labourers have registered in India till now under the e-SHRAM portal while the target for Manipur is about 8.65 lakhs. “We are planning to complete the target for Manipur by the end of December 2021 with the co-operation of the Chief Minister. We will also ensure that we will provide LPG connection to 9 districts of Manipur that has received connection below 90 per cent”, he assured.

Minister Teli elaborated that under Ujjwala Part I scheme, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has already given gas connection to 1 crore women and the ongoing Ujjwala Part II scheme targets to provide LPG connections to another 1 crore women. There is also a chance that we will start Ujjwala Part III under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana” (PMUY), he added.

Talking about the Ethanol project, Minister Teli said that we are working on this project in all districts of the country but it cannot be implemented in Manipur due to some reason.” We are also planning to start a gas pipeline in Imphal and capitals of other states of the country soon. We are considering two roadways Silchar-Jiribam and Dimapur-Nagaland route for linking the gas pipeline, he also stated.

MLA & Chairman, MBOCWWB, Manipur Heikham Dingo said that about 58,000 cards have been distributed to unorganized workers at Manipur now out of a total target of 8 lakhs. The Labour & Employment is an important Department usually ignored by the public but it provides health, educational and other benefits. Unfortunately, for about two and a half years, the department has been lying defunct due to the Covid pandemic, he also said.

Works and Industries Minister Th. Biswajit stated that if one registers to the e-SHRAM portal, he can avail of the benefits of PMUY, Ayushman Bharat and other social security schemes.

Meanwhile, a press conference was also held with Minister Rameswar Telli on the plan layout of his Ministries in connection with Manipur. We will try to look into account the need of constructing petrol pumps at 3-4 km distance locations and LPG distributors in a village if needed, he mentioned.

CM N Biren Singh, MLA Khurai AC L Sushindro, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Addl.Secretary(Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship) Manipur Hanna Kamei, other senior officials of IOC and  Labour & Employment Dept. were present at the function amongst others.
