Imphal: Chief minister N Biren Singh Tuesday launched the face-to-face classes under Chief Minister’s Civil Services Coaching Scheme (CMCS) 2021-22 at the State Academy of Training, Takyelpat. The launching program was organised by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Manipur, State Academy of Training, Government of Manipur and ALS Satellite Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking at the occasion, N Biren Singh said that as the state has witnessed significant improvement in the COVID-19 situation, normal classes in schools and colleges for Class IX and above would commence soon. He, however, said that the opening of schools for junior classes would be delayed for some more time as there is a need for further assessment.

The chief minister stated that the commencement of physical civil service coaching would enable hundreds of aspirants to have the same coaching as in Delhi or other cities here. Now, they need not travel to other cities spending huge amounts of money as the coaching is available in the state free of cost under this initiative of the state government, he pointed out.

Stating that it has been his long-time dream to introduce quality civil service coaching for the students of the state free of cost, N Biren Singh Singh expressed his heartfelt appreciation to ALS IAS Academy and its officials for making it possible. The chief minister said that the youth of the state do not lack talent and knowledge but they earlier did not have the adequate opportunity and proper guidance. Ever since the new state government was sworn in, it started applying mind to tap and groom these talents, and started working in that line accordingly, he added.

The chief minister also exhorted the aspirants present at the function not to get disheartened due to uncertainties in life. He stated that life, as well as politics, has so many uncertainties, however, one should continue working hard to achieve what they wish and do something for the nation and the state. He also advised the students to have discipline in whatever they are pursuing, stating that discipline is the foundation of success.

In his speech, education minister S Rajen Singh said that apart from infrastructure development works, the present government had done many unique things that the past Governments did not do. The state government is equally concentrating on developing the future of the youth as there is no point in having good infrastructures if there is no future for the youth, he observed.

S Rajen also thanked chief minister N Biren Singh for conceptualizing the IAS coaching scheme and sanctioning Rs. 2.80 crore from the State Planning Department. The minister said that civil service coaching would be conducted at the State Academy of Training, Takyelpat for the time being. However, it would be conducted soon in a permanent campus having quarters for faculties and staff and hostels for students at Taothong in Imphal West district.
