Vice President to be in Meghalaya on Monday

Naidu will leave Assam by an IAF helicopter and land at Advance Landing Ground of Eastern Air Command in Upper Shillong. Later, he will go to Raj Bhavan.

Shillong: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will be arriving in this mountainous state capital of Meghalaya on Monday, officials said on Sunday.

Naidu will leave Assam by an IAF helicopter and land at Advance Landing Ground of Eastern Air Command in Upper Shillong. Later, he will go to Raj Bhavan.

The Vice-President will then lay the foundation stone of the Upgradation of NH- 40 between Shillong to Dawki road at State Convention Centre. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong will also attend the programme.

The Rs 1,251 crore road project is being funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The strategic National Highway-40 from Shillong to Tamabil links Meghalaya with Bangladesh.

The Vice President will also address a workshop on “Changing Role of North Eastern Council in the Development of North Eastern Region” at North Eastern Council secretariat.
