Kolkata: West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak, who was
summoned by the Enforcement Directorate to appear at its New Delhi
office on September 23 in relation to the ongoing coal smuggling scam case in the state, skipped the appearance once again citing his preoccupation with the election campaign.

Sources said the minister in an email has communicated to the central
probe agency that he was busy in the election campaign.

Bengal goes to the by-poll for Bhawanipur assembly seat and election
to Shamshergunj and Jangpur in Murshidabad on September 30.

Before this, the minister also had skipped the summon on September 14
for the short notice.

Mr Ghatak had informed the probe agency to either arrange a video
conferencing or call him to its Kolkata office for interrogation.
But the ED insisted on interrogating him at their Delhi office.
