NEDFi contributes Rs 1.30 cr for oxygen infra in NE

Imphal: The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi), under it CSR initiative, has contributed at least Rs 1.30 crore for the eight northeastern states of India to combat the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

The amount has already been disbursed to the eight states with the state-wise allocation of Rs 15 lakh each and Rs 25 lakh for Assam, for its large population, said a statement issued by the Corporation here on Thursday.

The fund for the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura were released to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund by handing over the cheques to the respective Chief Ministers of the states.

For the state of Meghalaya, an amount of Rs. 9 lakh was released to Chief Ministers’ Relief Fund and the balance Rs. 6 lakh was distributed equally among 3 hospitals located in Shillong. The 3 hospitals are M/s Supercare Hospital & M/s Woodland Hospital, both NEDFi assisted hospitals, and M/s Dr. H Gordon Roberts Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals of the state providing COVID 19 health services largely for the economically weaker section of the society.

Each of these hospitals was reimbursed an amount of Rs. 2 lakh against the expenditure incurred by them towards procurement of equipment like oxygen concentrators, ventilators and oxygen cylinders. The disbursements for the CM Relief Funds were made during the months of June and July, 2021 while for the hospitals it was released during the month of August, 2021.

The Chief Ministers of all the states appreciated the Mission Oxygen initiative of NEDFi and informed that the contribution will go a long way in strengthening of oxygen infrastructures of the states. The information about NEDFi’s contribution was acknowledged by many of the Chief Ministers in their individual social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.  During the 1st wave of Covid 19 too, the Corporation had contributed an amount of Rs. 2 Crore to PM CARES Fund under its CSR policy.
