Police officials said the accused have been booked under different sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, IT Act and the CrPC.
Assam Police arrested two people each from Kamrup, Dhubri, and Barpeta districts for allegedly sharing “adverse and objectionable” posts supporting the Taliban on social media, said Chief Public Relations Officer Rajib Saikia. One person each was apprehended in Darrang, Cachar, Hailakandi, South Salmara, Hojai and Goalpara districts.
