Man held from Kshetrigao for sending obscene messages to woman

The accused has been identified as Mohd Sajid Khan, son of Mohd Sakip Khan of Kshetri Awang Leikai, Khetrigao, Imphal East District. He was arrested on Tuesday, they said.

Imphal: A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly harassing a girl by sending her obscene messages on Facebook, police said on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Sajid Khan, son of Mohd Sakip Khan of Kshetri Awang Leikai, Khetrigao, Imphal East District. He was arrested on Tuesday, they said.  

Police said that the accused using a fake Facebook account – “Prince Ali” – regularly chatted with a woman on Facebook through its app messenger.

The unknown Facebook users sent dirty and vulgar words to her. He also threatened the woman that he would upload her morphed nude photos in Facebook and other social media to make them viral if she doesn’t send her naked photos and share her mobile phone number.

The Cyber crime Police Station (CCPS) registered an FIR after the father of the woman made a formal complaint in this regard.

The police team also seized three mobile phones along with three SIM cards.

Interestingly, the accused person is also wanted in two other FIR cases registered at CCPS/CID (CB) for similar modus operandi crimes by creating fake Facebook accounts – “Henthoi Apng” and “Sathiba Pakhng” to sexually harass different women, as per press note from the PRO, Manipur Police, Kuplen Loubum.
