Nagaland Govt. to help children of COVID victims

Zhimomi has informed that the Department would provide necessary care and support to the vulnerable children, lost both parents in the COVID-19 pandemic and below the age of 18 years.

Kohima: The Government of Nagaland has decided to provide necessary care and support to the vulnerable children who lost both parents to COVID-19 and below the age of 18 years.

In a notification issued by the Nagaland Director of Child protective services (CPS), under the Department of Social Welfare A. Tosheli Zhimomi has informed that the Department would provide necessary care and support to the vulnerable children, lost both parents in the COVID-19 pandemic and below the age of 18 years.
The department informed that the child in distress should fall under the categories- those children lost both parents to COVID-19; child of a single parent who became orphan due to the parent’s demise from COVID-19; lost the bread earner of the family to COVID-19 and a child with no parental care and support due to COVID-19.
Such cases are to be reported to the child protection stakeholders, with a reference letter from the (village, ward, block, panchayat, and colony COVID core committees) within 20 days of the demise of parents, the notice said.
