Guwahati: Assam police have registered 22 cases, arrested 49 persons and seized more than 2 kg of brown sugar from different parts of the state in the last 24 hours.
Confirming this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also in charge of the home department, in a tweet said Assam Police also seized 14.31 kg of ganja and 1,17,138 narcotic substance.
“Fight Against Drugs @assampolice’s action against narcotics on June 5 results in: Cases Registered 22; arrests 49; Seizures: Brown Sugar 2.062 kgs; Ganja 14.313 kgs; Tablets 1,17,138; Codeine based Cough Syrup 21 bottles; Opium 252 grams; Cash Rs 4,33,270,” chief minister Sarma tweeted.
