9 killed in UP road accident, PM announces financial aid

Nine people were killed when a Bolero jeep carrying 11 people rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway 28 in UP's Siddharthnagar district. The other two survivors are seriously injured.

New Delhi: Expressing grief over the loss of lives in the road accident at Siddharthnagar of Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced a financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives.

“The road accident at Siddharthnagar in UP is deeply disturbing. My thoughts are with the bereaved family members. May God give them the strength to bear this immense suffering. I wish all the injured a speedy recovery,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

Further, the Prime Minister’s Office announced the compensation for the next of kin of those who lost their lives and the injured. 

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in an accident in Siddharthnagar, UP. The injured would be given Rs 50,000 each,” the PMO tweeted.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath too has condoled the loss of lives in the road accident. He has directed officials to ensure proper treatment to the injured.
