Islamabad: Eight terrorists and two innocent children were killed in a counter-terror operation in the South Waziristan district of Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Thursday.


“Upon the presence of information of terrorists in Zinghara area of the district, security forces carried out an operation,” the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.


During intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists including mortar fire, resulted in the killing of terrorists, whereas two soldiers were injured, said the statement.


Two innocent children had lost their lives during the exchange of fire, according to the ISPR.
