Ukhrul: The Ukhrul District Administration organised the 73rd Republic Day Celebration to commemorate the adoption of the constitution of India on 26 January 1950 with much zeal and enthusiasm amidst ban called by the UNC, at Mini Secretariat Wednesday.
The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Krishna Kumar, as the Chief Guest and all DLOs along with their staffs.
The function began at 8:40am with the arrival of the chief guest and inspection of the parade contingents accompanied by Superintendent of Police for Ukhrul Suajanya Singh, and the Parade Commander of the day W. Jadumani Singh, SDPO for Jesami Police Station. It was then the chief guest unfurl the tricolour Indian National flag along with singing of the national anthem.
The march pass contingents included Ex-Servicemen, the 6th Bn. Manipur Rifles, Manipur Police and the VDFas. The district administration handed out appreciation certificates to 58 employees from various departments for their relentless services rendered. ZEO department received the best gate display out of seven gates construction in and around the town from various departments.
Krishna Kumar in his address, reminded the uniqueness of the constitution of India which guarantees equal rights to every citizen of the country. He also remembered the great sacrifices made by our leaders to make India as a free nation.
Meanwhile, the CMO, Ukhrul under the Ministry of Health Soceity facilitated Covid-19 vaccination at the location for the public.
