Agartala: Police have launched an investigation against a 60-year-old man in Tripura’s Khowai district for allegedly molesting a young housewife, an official said on Sunday.
The purported incident happened on Oct 13.
But the victim alleged that police were buying time to allow the accused person to obtain bail or settle the case outside the court.
Vishnu Pada Deb, a resident of the West Ganki area, allegedly molested the victim when she was at home along with her mentally impaired daughter. The woman’s husband had gone to the hospital with his ailing mother.
However, Deb fled when she raised an alarm. According to the complaint, the accused had pounced on the woman and molested her in front of her daughter. As she shouted for help her husband reached the house and Deb fled.
Having come to know about the incident, the victim’s husband took her to the Khowai police station and filed a specific FIR.
The victim’s family alleged that the police have now become soft towards the accused, and are indirectly suggesting they settle the matter amicably.
