5kg of brown sugar seized; poppy cultivator nabbed in Manipur

Imphal: As a part of War on Drugs 2.0, Manipur police arrested three individuals and seized over 5 kilograms suspected to be  brown sugar from their possession on Saturday.

The drugs were found concealed inside a Maruti Alto car bearing regd. No. WB66J-0924. 

The three suspects have been identified as Md. Khutleibam Amirkhan (39 yrs) son of Late Md. Hellaluddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong, Thoubal District; Md. Sengamayum Nasiruddin (26 yrs) son of Md. Maniruddin of Lilong Chingkham Makha,  Thoubal  and Md. Khulakpam Tenden (20 yrs) son of Md. Sallaoddin of Lilong Ushoipokpi,  Thoubal District, Manipur.

The arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to Nambol police station for taking further necessary action, as per a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.

Meanwhile, a combine team of the staff of DC Senapati, Senapati District Police, Forest department along with Executive Magistrate Senapati  destroyed  1 (one) acre of illegal poppy plantation  at Ngatan Hills Ranges. 

Poppy buds weighing  17 kg  and  poppy seeds weighing 400 gms   were also seized from a hut at the poppy field. 

One suspected person to be poppy cultivator namely Santosh Kami, 30, son of Rajen Kami of Santolabari Village, Kangpokpi District was also arrested by the team.

The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Senapati PS for further investigation, said a press note of the PRO, Manipur Police.
