Itanaga: In a major breakthrough, the anti-drug squad (ADS) of Khonsa police in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday arrested five persons, including three women, for their alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade.
The police also recovered suspected heroin weighing 59.14 gram worth Rs two lakh and some hard cash from the arrested accused persons.
“Acting on specific input regarding a drug syndicate operative in Khonsa township, ADS of Khonsa Police under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police, Tirap district had arrested five persons who were operating a drugs racket in Khonsa township and seized drugs worth Rs 2 lakh and a cash amount of Rs 40,110,” the police sources said.
Besides the 59.14 gram suspected heroin, the police recovered one insulin injection syringe with heroin solution in it, lighter, metallic pipe and metallic foil used for consuming drugs, sale proceeds of Rs 40,110 and two Aadhaar cards from the possession of the accused, the sources added.
