Chaibasa: Four people including a woman and three men were run over by the Duranto Express in Chakardharpur of the West Singhbhum district on late Wednesday afternoon.
All the people were crossing the tracks at Binjiya on the Mumbai-Howrah main line when they were run over by the Duranto Express. All the deceased are aged between 20-35 years.
Police said the incident took place around 3.30 pm, half kilometres away from the railway gate. Post the incident the train kept moving towards its further course of the journey.
Locals said that all the bodies have been severely damaged and their identity is yet to be ascertained. Post the incident the locals gathered at the spot and stopped traffic movement on the railway tracks however the police and RPF personnel chased away the people from the tracks.
Process was on to send the bodies for post-mortem. More details are awaited.
