Agartala: A local court in South Tripura has sent four Bangladeshi nationals, arrested for allegedly entering India illegally, to three days in police remand.
An Indian, who facilitated the Bangladeshi nationals’ entry, was also arrested in Belonia on Saturday.
Police said the nabbed Bangladeshi nationals had been lodged in the residence of one Ashis Majumdar in Hrishyamukh of Belonia.
The BSF jawans of the 109th battalion, posted at the border in the Mothai area of Belonia. along with local police raided Majumdar”s house and detained te four Bangladeshis including two women.
Police sources from Belonia said they have arrested all four Bangladesh nationals under the Passport Act and have also arrested Ashis Majumdar under section 370 (Prevention of Human Trafficking) of IPC.
Initial investigation revealed all arrested Bangladesh nationals had entered Indian territory without any valid documents with the help of agent Ashis Majumdar and they were supposed to go to Surat city of Gujarat.
