314 positive cases, two deaths, Thursday in Manipur

Imphal: The situation arising out of the 2nd wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Manipur continues to go from bad to worse by the day. In the last 24 hours leading to 5:00 pm of Thursday, five more persons succumbed to Covid-19, 296 persons from the general population and 18 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive while there were 58 recoveries as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

Three of the five persons expired at Rajmedicity, they include a 62-year-male resident of Imphal East, a 54-year-old male resident of Bishnupur and a 78-year-old male resident of Imphal East. The other two, a 70-year-old female resident of Imphal West and a 76 year-old female resident of Imphal West expired at JNIMS a RIMS.

Of the 296 persons (167 males 129 females) who tested positive from the general population, 128 of them are from Imphal West, 77 are from Imphal East, 29 from Kakching, 14 each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, 13 from Kangpokpi, 11 from Thoubal, 4 from Tamenglong, 3 from Senapati, 2 from Noney and I from Ukhrul.

Meanwhile, there were 58 recoveries but the total recovered cases is considered 314 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, hospitalization teamon April 29. The recovery rate of the state now stands at 94.81%.

The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 31,315(General Population — 27,763 and Central Security Personnel — 3,552). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,690 (General Population — 26,240 and CAPF— 3,450). The number of active cases is 1225 (general population 1127 and CAPF 98).

As per the latest information, the total number of vaccination 159860.

The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
