Agartala: A motorcycle rally of Tripura police reached Kishanganj today in three days covering the distance of 1200 km on its way to the Statue of Unity at Kevadia of Gujarat for attending the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31, the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
As many as 25 motorbike riders of Tripura police began the rally on October 15 from Maitri bridge over River Feni in Sabroom of the southernmost border of the state, connecting India with Bangladesh and they were encouraged by Chief Minister and Director General of Police on their way at AD Nagar police ground in Agartala.
According to police, along with riders, another 19 others including a medical team and other logistics in vehicles have already crossed the road corridor of Assam, Meghalaya and West Bengal and they are expected to reach Kevadia on Oct 26 next covering the distance of 3500 kilometres passing three more states – Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
“Tripura police is representing eastern part of the country in the Ekta Diwas celebration at Gujarat while Jammu and Kashmir from North, Tamil Nadu from South and Gujarat from West, which will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Statue of Unity. This opportunity has added another feather on the crown of Tripura police,” said Director General of Police V S Yadav.
Since 2014, India has been celebrating the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the First Deputy Prime Minister and home minister, known as Iron man of India who played a significant role in making the country united as Ekta Diwas with a series of unique events.
The World’s Tallest Monument – Statue of Unity, a 597 feet colossal structure of Sardar Patel was built in 2018 where the programme will be held.
