2 soldiers killed in J&K landmine blast close to Line of Control

The slain Army personnel have been identified as Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit. Kumar hailed from Begusarai, Bihar while Manjit was from Sirvewala, Bhatinda, Punjab.

Jammu: An officer in the Indian Army and a jawan succumbed during treatment after they suffered critical injuries on Saturday in an explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

During an area domination patrol in Naushera Sector, District Rajouri (J&K), a mine blast occurred, wherein, two Indian Army soldiers suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries, the Jammu-based Defence spokesman, Lt Col Devender Anand, said in a statement.

Another soldier who received injuries was evacuated and is under treatment, the spokesman added.

16 Corps, Indian Army, extended its deep condolences to their families.

“GOC #WhiteKnight_IA and all ranks salute bravehearts Lt Rishi Kumar and Sep Manjit Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice in line of duty along the Line of Control in Naushera sector and offer deep condolences to their families,” Nagrota-based White Knight Corps wrote on Twitter.
