He said the rescued workers were identified as Kholebuddin Sheikh (27) and Shamidul Sheikh (19). They were brought to the SBI camp at Huri for first aid and then shifted to PHC Damin for medication.

“The health condition of the two rescued is very serious, and they are likely to be evacuated to either TRIHMS Naharlagun or District Hospital, Koloriang,” the DC said.

As per the statement of two rescued labourers, the DC said, they left four persons behind them, who were “very critical and could not walk in the forest”.

While stating that the rescue teams, including the local team, returned this evening due to the threat of poisonous snakes in the forest, he said, however, the operation will resume tomorrow to rescue the remaining missing labourers.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter, which was engaged in the search and rescue operation on Saturday, could not carry out the search operation on Sunday due to inclement weather, the DC said and added that the IAF chopper will resume operation on Monday, depending on weather conditions.

Earlier, three rescued labourers were shifted from Huri to Koloriang District Hospital for further treatment, while five others are currently undergoing treatment at TRIHMS Naharlagun, after being evacuated by the IAF chopper on Saturday.

The DC, along with the SP and District Medical Officer, visited the District Hospital and interacted with the three admitted labourers.
