2.22 lakh borrowers in Assam to receive finance incentive

Borrowers in Assam will receive a "No Dues Certificate" from 11 October under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021, he mentioned.

Guwahati: At least 2.22 lakh borrowers in Assam will receive a “No Dues Certificate” from lenders, who borrowers having NPA with outstanding principal amount up to 25,000, whose accounts have become NPA as of 31 March 2021, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Borrowers in Assam will receive a “No Dues Certificate” from 11 October under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021, he mentioned. 

Distributing “No Dues Certificate” to 9 beneficiaries on the third occasion, the Chief Minister mentioned the objectives of the scheme. 

The objective of the scheme is to give relief to eligible borrowers who have availed small loans from different microfinance lending institutions and banks in Assam, he remarked. 

Chief minister said that Under the scheme more than 9 lakh borrowers have already received incentives. Assam government will provide more Finance incentives to borrowers in Assam, borrowers having NPA with outstanding principal amounts to 50,000, whose accounts have become NPA as of 31 March 2021, he mentioned. 

The chief minister said we will cover 24 lakh beneficiaries under the Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme. I hope a huge financial burden will be taken off poor Microfinance loan borrowers by the government, making them creditworthy again.” Assam government finance minister Ajanta Neog and Assam Government chief secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur attended the meeting.
