14 deaths, 742 new cases, 1047 recoveries Friday in Manipur, recovery rate crosses 90%

Imphal: In the last 24 hours leading upto 5 pm of Friday, Manipur recorded 14 covid related deaths, 742 new positive cases(688 general population, 54 CAPF) and 1047 recoveries, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

Five of those from amongst the 14 persons who succumbed to the deadly pandemic on Friday are from Imphal East, four from Imphal West, two each are from Thoubal and Kakching while one is from Bishnupur. The cumulative death toll in the state now stands at 1,628.

Of the 14 persons who succumbed, five of them have been vaccinated with the 1st dose while nine of them had co-morbidities.

The 688 persons (335 males, 359 females) who tested positive from amongst the general population include 245 from Imphal West, 141 from Imphal East, 88 from Churachandpur, 52 from Ukhrul, 50 from Bishnupur, 40 from Pherzawl, 34 from Kakching, 31 from Thoubal, 19 from Chandel, seven each from Tamenglong from Tengnoupal, six each from Kamjong and Kangpokpi and two from Noney.

Altogether 5,055 persons were tested on Friday amounting to a positivity rate of 14.7 %.

Meanwhile, of the 1,047 persons who were discharged, 434 are from home isolation, 340 from CHICs, 229 from CCCs, 15 from JNIMS and 29 from RIMS. The recovery rate in the state stands at 90.28 % on Thursday.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,02,889 (General Population – 98,836, Central Security Personnel – 4,053). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 92,894 (General Population – 88,939, Central Security Personnel – 3,955). The number of active cases is 8,367 (General Population – 8,274, Personnel – 93).

Altogether, 8,496 were vaccinated on August 5, 2021. The cumulative number of vaccination is 13,68,523 (1st dose 11,34,815, 2nd dose 2,33,708).

The total number of vacant hospital beds available in the state as of August 5 at 6 pm is 248 which include 195 general beds and 53 ICU/HDU beds, the release added.

The total number of beds available in CCCs in the state is 3,547 out of which 1,530 beds are occupied while 2,017 are vacant, the official release added.
