Gangtok: Minister Health Dr MK Sharma, after taking stock of the situation at the new Govt hospital said that the public need not worry as the authorities are well prepared to tackle the pandemic.

“On reviewing the situation, it has been found that the new Hospital has sufficient beds. We are producing enough oxygen, but if cases continue to increase, more beds would be required. So additional 115 beds have been arranged in the recently inaugurated private cabins and on one more floor of the hospital. Consequently, additional manpower would be required. So we will be posting Nurses, Technicians and other staff, from nearby Primary Health Centres, from Singtam and Pakyong Hospital,” said Minister Sharma, addressing media at the new COVID19 Hospital.

He added that Dental Surgeons will also be posted from elsewhere to the new Hospital.

11 UK and 11 double mutants have been detected from samples from Sikkim, he said.

The Minister asked the public to stay indoors as much as possible.
