Agartala:In a critical surgery, doctors in Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) removed a tumor weighing 11 kg from the stomach of a 45 -yrs old housewife last week and stated that the patient was absolutely all right and discharged on Tuesday.
The hospital authority said that Nisarani Debbarma of Dhuraicherra locality of Dhalai district was admitted to the hospital with pain in the lower abdomen. The doctors attending her suggested an operation but initially, they were not agreed to perform the surgery due to extreme poverty.
With the help of the local administration, Nisarani was able to enroll in the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance scheme on an urgent basis, said Ranjit Debbarma, a family member of the patient. Accordingly, she got admitted to the hospital a week ago with serious health complications in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
A team led by Prof J L Baidya performed the surgery and removed a huge tumor.
