Imphal: Continuing its ‘War against Drugs’, a combined team comprising of 40 personnel of Chandel Police Chandel, 7 personnel of NAB and 4 personnel of NCB led by Addl SP Chandel Shankerjit Loitongbam, under the supervision of SP Chandel N Madhunimai, destroyed about 28 acres of illegal poppy cultivation at New Lamkang Khunthak , Chandel district Thursday, January 28. A case has been registered at Chandel PS for further necessary action, as per a press note from the PRO Manipur Police, W Basu.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a joint team destroyed 80 acres of illicit poppy cultivation at Dampi reserved forest hill range, at four locations namely K Bungsang, Saronphai, New Dampi and Geljang, Churachanpur.
The joint destruction drive was led by SP Bishnupur along with the assistance of ASP(L/O), ASP(Ops), DSP(CDO), DSP(OPS), SDO, Samulamlan, OC /Kumbi PS, OC/PGCI, 31 AR and NAB. FIRs have been registered at Kumbi PS, added the PRO Manipur Police.
