Imphal: A Meitei youth was shot dead by suspected Kuki militants here on Saturday.
Villagers of Kadangband, Imphal West said they were repeatedly fired upon from the nearby hill areas by Kuki militants and youths of the area were guarding the village.
A youth identified as James was hit by a bullet and he succumbed to injuries.
People came out to protest the killing and repeated attacks from nearby hill areas. They said security personnel deployed in the hill areas were not taking action against those who were openly going around with sophisticated weapons.
Additional security personnel were rushed in to control the situation.
