Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday raised questions about PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu’s stand on the mafia now and asked will he stand with the mafia, campaign for them and ask the people of Punjab to vote for mafia?
“Everyone knows Sidhu is friend of no one but power and that’s how he has managed to be the part of ruling parties in Punjab,” Cheema said and added that the PPCC President never stood by the people of Punjab.
In a statement here on Monday, the LoP said, “From 2004 to 2016 Navjot Sidhu was a BJP leader and Punjab has the government of SAD-BJP alliance in the state. Then since 2017 he has been an MLA and minister of ruling Congress party. Today the people of Punjab just have one question for Navjot Sidhu, after 15 years in power what has Navjot Singh Sidhu done for Punjab, the people of Punjab and for his constituency Amritsar or his MLA constituency Amritsar East.”
He said that Punjabis are now well aware of garrulous nature of Navjot Singh Sidhu.
“We all know he’s all talk and no action. He has been part of ruling government for the last 15 years, but still all he has been doing is talk. From time to time we hear him claiming to be anti-mafia, anti-corruption and pro-Punjab. So, I challenge Navjot Sidhu to make public the names of Congress ministers who have been patronizing and running the mafia in Punjab.”
He said that people do not trust Navjot Singh Sidhu, one day he is saying that he is not a show piece, he will fight for the people of Punjab and would not let mafia rule Punjab. Next day he is sharing stage with all Congressmen accused of corruption, of links with the mafia and singing praises for the same.
Cheema claimed that the people will see right through all the theatrics of Navjot Singh Sidhu and would not waste their precious votes on him and the Congress party.
He said that people know Sidhu has and will always take the side of the power not the common people. The only party that will form the corruption and mafia free, pro-people government in Punjab is AAP. So, this time people of Punjab will form the AAP government with a huge majority, he said.
