Kakching: The 70th Wildlife Week 2024 was observed today in Kakching, organised by the Divisional Forest Officer of Thoubal under the Thoubal Forest Division. 

M. Rameshwar, MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, flagged a mass rally from Kakching Bazar to the Range Office at Kakching Lamkhai. Under the theme “Wildlife Conservation Through Co-Existence”, the participants of the rally raised slogans at the rally focusing on the protection of wildlife, hills, rivers and other resources.

Laishram Dinesh, Range Officer Kakching said that Wildlife Week is observed to make the people understand and aware of the need to protect wild animals, hills, and rivers.

He said today’s rally was organised with the sole aim of raising awareness about safeguarding the wild animals inhabiting wetlands like Loushi Pat, Ekop Pat, Kharungpat, Khoidum Pat and Pumlen Pat in Thoubal District and Kakching District, under the jurisdiction of the Thoubal Forest Division. 

Ningthoujam Deepa, Range Officer Headquarters, Dineshchandra Salam, RO Thoubal, officials staff from Thoubal Forest Division and the civil society organizations, clubs and individuals of both Thoubal and Kakching districts participated in the rally.
